Warren Hammack (Director
of Grace and Glorie,
Hoy in Solidarity)
In his more than forty years as a theatre professional, Warren
Hammack has produced over one hundred and thirty plays, seventeen
of which were World Premieres; has directed over seventy-five
major productions in theatres from Dallas, Texas to Norwich,
England; and, as an actor, has created well over a hundred
roles for stage, film, and television. He is author of the
play, Time and the Rock.
Hammack was the founding Artistic/Producing Director of Horse
Cave Theatre in which capacity he served for twenty-five years.
In 1995 he was awarded the Kentucky Governor’s Award
for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts.
Warren began his Equity acting career
as “Job” in the acclaimed 1962 Off-Broadway production
of The Book of Job. On stage, he performed major
roles opposite three Academy Award winners: Jon Voight (Polonius
to Jon’s Hamlet), Burl Ives, and Peggy Wood.
He created the lead role of “John Bumpus” in the
award–winning East of Nineveh for the Kentucky
PBS network and has made numerous guest appearances on national
network television.
Among Warren’s favorite stage roles
are: Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman, Prospero
in The Tempest, Joe Keller in All My Sons,
C.S.Lewis in Shadowlands, Lear in King Lear,
Drummond in Inherit the Wind, and Vladimir in Waiting
for Godot.
When not on the road acting or directing,
Warren resides in Nelson, New Hampshire with his actor/director/writer
wife, Pamela White. (2005)
