Ellen Mandel
Ellen Mandel
is resident composer at the Jean Cocteau Repertory in New
York City, where she has composed music for Medea, On
the Razzle, Lulu, Hamlet, Major Barbara, Travesties, Tartuffe
and many others. She has created music for many Peterborough
Players productions, including As You LIke It, The Matchmaker,
and The Cherry Orchard, directed by Gus Kaikkonen,
and for his Riverside Shakespeare, (NYC) productions of Richard
III, and Macbeth, Waiting for Godot (Boarshead
Theatre, Lansing, MI), and Twelfth Night (Asolo Theatre,
Sarasota FL). Other theaters include Arkansas Rep, Tennessee
Rep, and Riverside Theater (Vero Beach FL). Ms. Mandel has
written four film scores, and performs frequently around NYC
with her jazz quintet. She has released two CDs: Every
Play's an Opera, a collection of her theatre music, and
a wind has blown the rain away, her E.E. Cummings songs, sung
by Peterborough favorite Todd Almond. (2003)
