Managing Director
Keith Stevens marked his twelfth season as Managing Director of the Peterborough Players in 2007. Under his leadership, the Players has reached a record number of subscribers, greatly expanded its season, more than doubled its budget, established a cash reserve, successfully completed a major capital campaign, and renovated its facilities, including the $1.4 Million stage reconstruction completed prior to the 2006 season.
Prior to coming to Peterborough, Keith worked for five years as the General Manager of the Merrimack Repertory Theatre in Lowell, MA. Other jobs have included Community Relations Director of the American Stage Festival in Milford, NH, Managing Director of the Charlotte Repertory Theatre in Charlotte, NC, and Managing Director of the Jenny Wiley Theatre in Prestonsburg, KY. He has served on negotiating committees for the Council of Resident Stock Theatres and the League of Resident Theatres, and holds an MFA in Arts Administration with an emphasis in Directing from Virginia Tech and a BA in Theatre with an emphasis in Business/Marketing from Ohio State. He has served on the part-time faculty of the Theatre and Dance department at both Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH and Keene State College in Keene, NH. Keith is a member of the New Hampshire Theatre Awards Executive Committee, represents the Players in the New Hampshire Professional Theatre Association, and serves on the "Greenerborough" steering committee for the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce.
For the Players he has directed Stuart Little, The Velveteen Rabbit, Snow White, A Wrinkle In Time, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Secret Garden, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and A Number. In November, 2006 he directed Light Up the Sky for Franklin Pierce University. He has appeared in Picasso at the Lapin Agile, As You Like It , Light Up the Sky, Love's Labours Lost and The Return of the Prodigal for the Players, and The Impresario for the Raylynmor Opera.
Keith is best known throughout Peterborough as Anastasia and Maclane's dad. In addition to being proud parents, he and his wife Joanne are shared by Rico, the excitable Jack Russell/beagle mix and Larry, the world's dumbest basset hound. (2008)
