FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Whitmore Award to be Presented at Peterborough Players
Outstanding Second Company Intern Will Receive Award
Peterborough, NH (August 25, 2009) – The 2009 James Whitmore Award will be presented to an outstanding member of the Second Company this Saturday, August 29 at 3:45 p.m. (immediately after Anne of Green Gables). The general public is invited to a brief ceremony, where the award, $500, and a medal will be presented to this year’s recipient.
The James Whitmore Award was established seven years ago through the generosity of the late Mr. William D. Eppes. The winner of the award is nominated by Second Company peers and shop managers. Previous winners were Dan Hodge, Will Ryan Frasier, Jose Docen, Allison McLemore, Caitlin Davis, Sean Hopkins, and Alex Mark.
The Second Company is made up of interns and apprentices from around the country who hope to make a career of the theatre. Over the course of the season, these young people work on all aspects of the theatre doing everything from maintaining the grounds of the theatre and building the sets and costumes, to working with professional actors onstage and running all technical aspects of shows. They also perform two shows. This season the shows were Just So Stories and Anne of Green Gables, which runs August 26, 28, and 29 at 2 p.m.
