The Met: Live in HDThe Met: Live in HD at the Peterborough Players
Aida- Saturday October 24th
Peterborough, NH (October 15, 2009) – The Peterborough Players will host the second opera in the Metropolitan Opera’s The Met: Live in HD series; Aida, by Giuseppe Verdi, on Saturday, October 24th. The grandeur of Aida will be simulcast live onto a 10’ X 16’ screen in the Players 250-seat theatre.
Aida, a heartbreaking love story as well as an epic drama, is full of spectacular crowd scenes and breathtaking scenery. The combination of a huge cast, Verdi’s passionate musical score, and the unsurpassed talent at the Metropolitan Opera, positions Aida to be a favorite in the 9-opera series. Conductor: Daniele Gatti; Production: Sonja Frisell; with Violete Urmana, Dolora Zajick, Johan Botha, Carlo Guelfi, Roberto Scandiuzzi, and Stefan Kocán. Among the score’s highlights is the celebrated Triumphal March.
Reserved seating tickets are on sale for Aida, as well as for the remaining 7 operas in the series. Tickets sold individually $25 adults, $20 students, or in discounted subscription packages; $140 for 7 operas, $115 for 5 operas. Approximate running time for Aida is 4 hours with 2 intermissions.
