FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Gala & Auction at the Peterborough Players
Public Invited to Fundraising Event - Nov. 7
Peterborough, NH (October 26, 2009) – The Peterborough Players will host its 21st annual Gala & Auction on Saturday, November 7th. This ticketed event is the Players only fundraising event of the year – a fun-filled evening that includes entertainment, live and silent auctions, great food, and an open bar.
The theme of this year’s event is Community Counts: Celebrating the Monadnock Region! Peterborough’s Charlie Cobb will be the auctioneer for the evening, accompanied by a supporting cast of Players’ favorites from the acting company who promise to keep the action entertaining.
The live auction will be preceded by a silent auction, which attendees may view and bid on starting at 5:30 p.m. The live and silent auctions will feature a wide range of exciting trips, outdoor activities, theme dinners, sporting events and concert tickets, home and yard services, original artwork, and many one-of-a-kind items. With many items as low as $25, there’s something for everyone, and lots of fun in seeing who gets what!
A peak at some of the big-ticket vacation items for the evening include a 3-night stay for three couples at a historic home on Martha’s Vineyard, a 6-night South African safari for two with accommodations at a 4-star game lodge, a 3-night stay at Marriott’s Grand Hotel Point Clear Alabama with two rounds of golf each day and tennis, and a week at a villa in Tuscany, plus much more, and many weekend getaways at hotels and inns around the country that include theatre tickets, golf, or other fun extras.
Sports-minded individuals can bid on exciting items like being the guest (along with 3 friends) of the race chairman at New Hampshire’s Motor Speedway in Loudon for the 20th running of the Vintage Racing Celebration in May, including riding around the road course at speed in vintage race cars. Baseball? There are premium seats for four for the Red Sox in the covered Home Plate Pavilion Club section and a guided tour of Fenway before the game. Other sports-oriented items include a day of fly fishing, a morning of sporting clays at Timberdoodle, golf greens fees at a number of golf courses, sporting events tickets, and much more.
For those interested in food (and who isn’t?), there is a smorgasbord to choose from, including a 3-course French dinner for eight, a Tuscan dinner for six, and the Best Barbecue in town for 12; this type of theme dinner has been popular in the past because several couples can split the cost of the winning bid and have a readymade party. Local restaurants? How about a 4-course dinner for 10 at the Grand View Inn? There are also gift certificates for many wonderful local restaurants and inns in the silent auction.
There is art and jewelry by local favorites like Danny Thibeault and others to bid on; practical items like tree pruning or removal, floor refinishing, and rug cleaning; and a potpourri of items where everyone is sure to find something they want to bid on, like massages, a case of fine wine, photography sessions, a Weber smoker, art and music lessons, lots of items from local shops, and special birthday parties for children – like a fire truck coming to your home for kids to climb on!
Throughout the evening, attendees will be served hearty hors d’oeuvres catered by Sage with Thyme, an array of decadent desserts, and complimentary cocktails, wine, and beer. Each ticket buyer is automatically entered into a raffle for a free Barn Door Pass to the Players’ 2010 season.
The celebration and the live/silent auction preview begin at the Players’ theatre at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, November 7th. Tickets are $75 per person and may be purchased through the Box Office: (603) 924-7585, or at the door. Dress festive.
