The 2000 Pulitzer Prize winner for Best Play, DINNER WITH FRIENDS, runs from July 10 through July 21 at the Peterborough Players. Playwright Donald Margulies, author of last season's COLLECTED STORIES, serves up a brimming plateful of entertainment: yuppie satire, romantic comedy, sexy banter and insightful analysis.

It's the story of two married couples that have been friends for years. Karen and Gabe, played by returning Player favorite Kathy Manfre, and newcomer David Haugen, are international food writers. Their friends Beth and Tom are played by Kevin James Kelly, who was last seen in the critically acclaimed 2000 Peterborough Players production of Our Town, and Becky London who's one woman performance of Full Gallop opened this season. When one couple breaks up, the fallout threatens to shatter not only the foursome's friendships, but also their perceptions of themselves. This brilliant play announced Margulies as one of Americas leading playwrights. It is rated PG-13 and contains adult language and situations. The San Francisco Examiner called DINNER WITH FRIENDS "a breezy comedy of modern manners that turns poignant and deeply affecting by its end. Margulies touches chords that resonate with a deep affecting humanity."

Players Artistic Director, and recent Sarasota Magazine Award winner for a production last year at the Asolo Theatre in Florida, Gus Kaikkonen, directs the play. Ray Recht, who has designed for Broadway, as well as, television and film, is designing the sets. Todd O. Wren is designing the lights, Michelle Skundrick, the costumes, and Karen Mitchell, the props.

The Peterborough Players is sponsored in part by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New Hampshire Humanities Council, the A. Erland and Hazel M. Goyette Memorial Fund, and the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Charitable Foundation.

Season subscriptions are now on sale at the Players Box Office. For reservations and further information, call (603) 924-7585.
