The Peterborough Players are opening their 70th anniversary season with Lee Blessing's compelling and timely new play, GOING TO ST. IVES. It will run June 18 to June 29. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 8pm, Sunday the 22nd at 7pm and Sunday the 29th at 4pm. A psychological drama that raises questions of life and death, this play chronicles three meetings between the mother of a despotic African dictator who travels to England, ostensibly seeking surgery, and the prominent ophthalmologist who treats her. Her true motive, however, is shocking and sets in motion a chain reaction of events with personal and political reverberations. Both women will be changed in ways they never imagined. GOING TO ST. IVES presents two impressive women whose political and cultural differences define and divide them as they each attempt to accomplish the greatest good. The Philadelphia CityPaper called GOING TO ST. IVES "spectacular...emotionally and intellectually engrossing."

GOING TO ST. IVES will mark the Peterborough Players debut of Claudia Robinson, whose impressive credits include two other productions of this play, one at the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati and the other at Interact Theatre in Philadelphia. She has also worked extensively nationally and internationally at such theatres as: La Mama Etc. and Henry Street Settlement in New York, Florida Repertory Theatre, Vox Box Ensemble of Los Angeles, the National Theatre of Nigeria, and The Barn Theatre of Jamaica. Theatregoers may also recognize her from the silver screen too, she starred as Christophene in WIDE SARGASSO SEA a film that won much critical and commercial acclaim recently. Joining Ms. Robinson will be Players favorite, Lisa Bostnar. Ms. Bostner is back at the Players for her third season. She was seen last season starring in the hits MR. PIM PASSES BY and PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE and the NH Theatre Award winning THE CHERRY ORCHARD. She was kept busy during the off-season with a guest star turn on LAW AND ORDER and a highly successful production of Arthur Schnitzler's FAR AND WIDE at the Mint Theatre in New York. Sets will be designed by Lee Dunholter, lights by Michael L. Kimmel and Lisa Weinschrott, and costumes by Miriam Jones. The play is being directed by Peterborough Players Artistic Director Gus Kaikkonen. This play is rated PG-13.

The Peterborough Players is sponsored in part by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New Hampshire Humanities Council, the A. Erland and Hazel M. Goyette Memorial Fund, and the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Charitable Foundation.

Season subscriptions are now on sale at the Players Box Office and online at www.peterboroughplayers.org. For reservations and further information, call (603) 924-7585, or visit the Peterborough Players web site at www.peterboroughplayers.org.
