Jose DocenPeterborough Players Second Company member Jose Docen was given the Third Annual James Whitmore Award sponsored by the William D. Eppes Endowment on Saturday, August 28th. The Award, $500.00 and a medal, was established through the generosity of Mr. William D. Eppes, and is presented every season to an outstanding member of the Second Company.

The Second Company is made up of interns and apprentices from around the country who hope to make a career of the theatre. Over the course of the season these young people work on all aspects of the theatre, doing everything from maintaining the grounds of the theatre and building the sets and costumes, to working with professional actors onstage and running all technical aspects of shows. They also perform two shows. This season those shows were The Nightingale and A Wrinkle in Time.

The award ceremony took place after the final performance of A Wrinkle in Time. This was Mr. Docen's second season with the Players. He Played the Emperor in Hans Christian Andersen's The Nightingale and The Man With Red Eyes in A Wrinkle in Time. He was also seen in the Mainstage show Laughing Stock and at several Cabarets.
