Players Announce Progress Progress On Stage Renovation Project May 2, 2005 Contact: Since October, 2004 the Peterborough Players has been actively raising money for a major renovation to its stage and production facilities. To date, a total of $985,000 has been given or pledged to this project, which is anticipated to begin following the close of the 2005 summer season. The project will renovate the theatre’s production facilities, enhance the Players technical capacities and address vital safety concerns in both the stage and backstage areas. Specifically, the proposed improvements include rebuilding the stage floor and backstage areas, adding a fly loft above the stage and a trap room below the stage, constructing adequate costume and scene shop facilities and adding 42 seats to the auditorium. “We are very proud of the success we have had so far in this fundraising effort,” said Players campaign and Board chair Robert Pettegrew of Hancock. “We still have work to do, however, to complete our campaign and begin construction at the end of the season.” To that end, an anonymous $100,000 challenge gift has been made that will match dollar for dollar any new or increased commitment to the stage renovation project. “This gift is wonderfully generous both in its amount and spirit, and I am confident it will be key in helping us meet and exceed our goal,” Pettegrew continued. Persons interested in learning more about the stage renovation project should contact Brian Rowe, the Players’ Director of Development, at 924-9344. The Peterborough Players is sponsored in part by the New Hampshire State
Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Monadnock
Community Foundation, and the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Charitable Foundation.
