In collaboration with ConVal, Conant, and Mascenic High Schools as well as Franklin Pierce and Keene State Colleges, The Peterborough Players is proud to present Museum, a play written by Tina Howe. Museum will be performed Thursday, May 19 at 8pm; Friday, May 20 at 8pm; and Sunday, May 21 at 2pm & 8pm.

It's the visitors who are on exhibit in Tina Howe's satirical and poignant examination of art, humor, passion, and philosophy. Directed by Jon L. Egging, Museum is a sophisticated, engaging, multi-layered comedy that follows the movement of art lovers, skeptics, foreigners, students and lost souls through the final day of a group show of three fictitious contemporary American artists, exhibited in a major museum of modern art. It has been described as a smart, acerbic, surprising, even a little grotesque play that introduces ideas and materials that highlight the interdisciplinary nature of the performing and visual arts.

Eight ConVal, three Conant, and three Mascenic students have been cast along with a three professional actors in this production to play 42 characters in this fun play of vignettes and character sketches. It is a chance to give the students, most of whom are interested in pursuing a theatrical career, a chance to work in a professional theatrical environment. They are asked to work on a professional schedule and are supported by a design and production team from the Players. Franklin Pierce professor Lee Dunholter is designing the set, Anna Thomford, also from Franklin Pierce is designing the costumes and Craig Lindsay from Keene State is designing the lights.

With all the ingredients for an adventurous comedic experience, "Museum" is sure to live up to its title: a treasury of talents on display to experience and enjoy. Museum is rated “PG”.

The Peterborough Players is sponsored in part by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New Hampshire Humanities Council, the A. Erland and Hazel M. Goyette Memorial Fund, and the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Charitable Foundation. The 2005 Media Sponsor is the Keene Sentinel.

Season subscriptions are now on sale at the Players Box Office. For reservations and further information, call (603) 924-7585, or visit the Peterborough Players web site at www.peterboroughplayers.org.
