| Grace
and Glorie Opens Season at the Peterborough Players June 10, 2005 Contact: The first show of the 2005 season, running June 15 - 26, Grace and Glorie is a variation on an odd-couple play, and the celebration of a friendship between two women who would be unlikely to meet in real life. Gloria Whitman, played by Lisa Bostnar, is a Harvard MBA and former power management consultant from Manhattan, who moves to Virginia and meets Grace Stiles, played by Carmen Decker, a dying, ornery, illiterate 90-year-old “backwoods redneck” who lives, “all alone in the middle of nowhere.” The show will be directed by Warren Hammack in his Peterborough Players debut. The device used to bring these two women together is Hospice; the worldwide organization of professionals and volunteers committed to improving end-of-life care. Gloria is the Hospice volunteer assigned to Grace’s case to help her manage her pain and deal with death. Guess which one of these women really needs help? Come to the Players to find out more. Mr. Hammack was the founding Artistic/Producing Director of Horse Cave Theatre of Kentucky in which capacity he served for twenty-five years. He is also an actor and writer and will be acting later this summer in the world premiere of Solidarity. Joining him on the production team are Charles Morgan on sets, Junko Yamada on lights, and Meagan Becker on costumes. The Peterborough Players is sponsored in part by the New Hampshire State
Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New Hampshire
Humanities Council, the A. Erland and Hazel M. Goyette Memorial Fund,
and the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Charitable Foundation. The 2004 Media Sponsor
is the Keene Sentinel. Grace and Glorie is rated “PG,” and is sponsored by Monadnock Paper Mills. |
