for the whole family as CHARLIE BROWN… comes to Players August 10, 2005 Contact: Jon L. Egging, Marketing Director, (603) 924-9344 You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, the musical based on the Comic Strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schulz with book, music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, is the fifth show of the summer season at the Peterborough Players and has a special three week run from August 17-September 4. Come see Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the Peanuts Gang! A musical to delight kids of all ages! “Did you know that Charlie Brown has never pitched a winning baseball game, never been able to keep a kite in the air, never won a game of checkers and never successfully punted a football? Sometimes I marvel at his consistency.” It's an average day in the life of Charlie Brown (Paul Coffey) and he is bravely facing all of childhood's adversities. He can't get up the nerve to talk to the little red-haired girl. His kite won't stay in the air. Everybody loves his energetic dog, Snoopy (Kraig Swartz ). His pensive friend, Linus (Jed Resnick), can't seem to separate himself from his beloved blanket. His crabby friend, Lucy (Pamela Bob), is determined to become a queen and his piano-playing playmate, Schroeder (Todd Almond), spends most of his time extolling the virtues of Beethoven. Together, these kids play baseball, endure school, sing in glee club, and in their own kindergarten way, adore each other's company. Based on Peanuts , one of the most popular comic strips of all time, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown originally opened on March 7, 1967 at Theatre 80 St. Marks. The show ran for 1597 performances and spawned six touring companies between 1967 and 1971. Popular Players’ Director Jana Tift returns to take the helm and she is helped out by a veteran production team of Choreographer Tesha Buss, Musical Director Michael Sebastian, Sound designer Dana Parsons, Scenic Designer Tina Newhauser, Costume Designer Lisa Liebetrau, and Lighting Designer Lee Mack. Performance times are: 8:00 p.m., Tuesday -Saturday; with matinees at 4 p.m. on Sundays. The Peterborough Players is sponsored in part by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Charitable Foundation. The 2005 Media Sponsor is the Keene Sentinel. Season subscriptions are now on sale at the Players Box Office.
