PETERBOROUGH PLAYERS ANNOUNCE FINALISTS FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE THEATRE AWARDS

The Peterborough Players have been honored with sixteen finalists out of hundreds of nominees for the 2007 New Hampshire Theatre Awards.  The Awards, to honor outstanding achievement in New Hampshire Theatre in 2006, will be held at 7 PM on Friday, February 2 at the Palace Theatre in Manchester.

The Players submitted two shows from the 2006 season for consideration for the professional theatre categories of the awards:  HOBSON’S CHOICE and THE WINTER’S TALE.  Both productions are finalists in the Best Non-Musical/Professional category.

Hobson's ChoiceMichael Page, a two-time winner in the Best Supporting Actor category, is a finalist in the Best Actor in a Non-Musical category for his role as Henry Horatio Hobson in HOBSON’S CHOICE, as is Artistic Director Gus Kaikkonen for his role as Leontes in THE WINTER’S TALE.  Kaikkonen has previously won four NH Theatre Awards for Directing and shared with Todd Almond the award for Best Original Play for PEOPLE LIKE US.  Dee Nelson is a finalist in the Best Actress in a Non-Musical category for two roles: Maggie in HOBSON’S CHOICE and Hermione in THE WINTER’S TALE. 

The Players have two finalists each in the Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Non-Musical categories.  Kraig Swartz is a finalist for his role as Will Mossop in HOBSON’S CHOICE, and Kevin Kelly is a finalist for his role as Autolycus in THE WINTER’S TALE.  Previous NH Theatre Award winner Carmen Decker is a finalist for her role as Mrs. Hepworth in HOBSON’S CHOICE, and Kathy Manfre is a finalist for her role as Paulina in THE WINTER’S TALE. 

The Winter's TaleJonathan Bank is a finalist for Best Director in a Non-Musical for both HOBSON’S CHOICE, as is previous award-winner Jana Tift for THE WINTER’S TALE.  Ray Recht is a finalist for Best Set Design for HOBSON’S CHOICE, as is Tina Newhauser for THE WINTER’S TALE.  Lisa Streett-Liebetrau is a finalist in the Best Costume Design category for HOBSON’S CHOICE, and Todd Wren in a finalist in the Best Lightng Design category for THE WINTER’S TALE.

Tickets for the fifth annual New Hampshire Theatre Awards are on sale now through the Palace Theatre Box Office at 668-5588.  Further information on the awards can be found at www.nhtheatre.com.
