Whitmore Award to Be Presented at Peterborough Players
Second Company Intern Will Win Prestigious Award

Peterborough, NH (August 23, 2011) – The 2011 James Whitmore Award, established through the William D. Eppes Endowment Fund, will be presented to a Peterborough Players Second Company Intern on Saturday, August 27, immediately following the final 2:00PM performance of Puss in Boots. The winner of this coveted prize will be presented with a medal and $500 in cash. The public is cordially invited to attend this event (roughly 3:15PM), free of charge.

The Second Company is made up of interns from around the country who are embarking on theatrical careers. During the season, in addition to producing and performing the two children’s shows, the interns also work on all facets of Peterborough Players’’ productions, doing everything from building sets, sewing costumes, working with professional actors on stage in the Main Stage shows, and running all technical aspects of the shows.

The James Whitmore Award was established ten years ago through the generosity of the late Mr. William D. Eppes. The winner of the award is nominated by Second Company peers, shop managers, and staff.
