FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Philip Glass Opera at Peterborough Players
The Met: Live in HD’s Satyagraha
Peterborough, NH (November 3, 2011) – The Met: Live in HD’s Satyagraha, by Philip Glass, will be broadcast at the Peterborough Players on Saturday, November 19th, 1:00 p.m. Tickets: $25 adults, $20 students, available through the Box Office: (603) 924-7585 or Online: www.peterboroughplayers.org.
Satyagraha is the second in Glass’ trilogy about men who changed the world. Semi-narrative in form, the opera deals with Mahatma Gandhi’s early years in South Africa and his development of non-violent protest into a political tool. (“Satyagraha” is a Sanskrit word meaning “truth force.”) The Met’s production of Satyagraha is visually extravagant, with Richard Croft as Gandhi. Dante Anzolini conducts.
Satyagraha is 4 hours; casting subject to change without notice.
