Hansel and Gretel at Peterborough Players
Matinee Performance During School Vacation

Peterborough, NH (December 1, 2011) – The Peterborough Players will broadcast a holiday encore of The Met: Live in HD’s production of Hansel and Gretel. This fairy tale opera, by nineteenth-century composer Engelbert Humperdinck, is based on the Grimm brothers’ fairy tale. Richard Jones’s funny production of Humperdinck’s beloved opera stars Alice Coote and Christine Schäfer as the siblings lost in the shadowy world of the woods. They are pursued by tenor Philip Langridge as the Witch who seeks to devour them. Sung in English, this production was first seen as part of The Met: Live in HD in January 2008.
