FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Final Ring Cycle Opera at the Peterborough Players
Wagner’s Götterdämmerung
Peterborough, NH (January 19, 2012) – The Met: Live in HD’s new production of Wagner’s Götterdämmerung will be broadcast at the Peterborough Players on Saturday, February 11th, at 12:00 p.m. This is the final opera in Wagner’s Ring Cycle of four epic operas. Tickets: $25 adults, $20 students, available through the Box Office: (603) 924-7585 or Online: www.PeterboroughPlayers.org.
With its cataclysmic climax of betrayal and loss, the Met’s new Ring Cycle, directed by Robert Lepage, comes to its resolution. As focus shifts from the realm of the gods to the power and ambition of human beings, it is left to Brünnhilde, in the legendary Immolation Scene, to restore balance to the world. Deborah Voigt stars as Brünnhilde and Jay Hunter Morris is Siegfried — the star-crossed lovers doomed by fate. Fabio Luisi conducts.
Götterdämmerung is approximately 6 hours, 15 minutes with two intermissions; casting subject to change without notice.
