The Comedy of Errors at the Peterborough Players
London’s National Theatre Broadcasts Shakespeare
Peterborough, NH (February 14, 2012) – The National Theatre in London will broadcast on screen in high definition Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors at the Peterborough Players on Saturday, March 3rd at 1:00 pm. Tickets: $25/adults and $20/students, Box Office: (603) 924-7585 or Online: www.PeterboroughPlayers.org.
Famed British comedian and actor Lenny Henry makes his National Theatre debut as Antipholus of Syracuse. Dominic Cooke, director of the celebrated Royal Court Theater, comes to the National Theatre for the first time to direct this production, which opened in the Olivier Theatre in late November and has continued in repertoire.
Puns, word play, slapstick, and mistaken identity make up a large part of the humor in this farcical comedy about two sets of identical twins accidentally separated at birth. Written in 1589, The Comedy of Errors is Shakespeare’s shortest play and one of his earliest.
